Safety

CW3 Martin and CW2 Savoy showing off for the camera; Mr. Savoy is our Company Safety Officer and CW3 Martin is our Hazmat Officer and safety officer in training.

Re-Enlistment

I thought this setting was pretty impressive and had to add it to the blog. The is a picture of CPT Christl re-enlisting one of his soldiers. Everyone on the ground are at the position of attention while the soldier recites the following Oath of Enlistment:

"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God." (Title 10, US Code; Act of 5 May 1960 replacing the wording first adopted in 1789, with amendment effective 5 October 1962).

Bagdad

While at their stay in Baghdad, Mr. Potter, Epperson, and Adkins couldn’t resists stopping for a few pictures. This sign was interesting to say the least.

Striking a Pose

SSG Sauer’s in the back of the Chinook posing for the camera. Thank you Ramona!

Jump Seat

The jump seat in the CH-47 is located behind both pilots, centered in the middle of the aircraft, and directly below the forward transmission. SSG McDonald our supply sergeant needed a lift to one of our stops so we hooked him up with a front row seat. I made sure to give him fare warning that since the troop commander seat is directly under the forward transmission that it’s especially warm, loud, and with the vibration you be asleep in a matter of minutes.

Few mintes have passed

9 minutes into the flight - notice Sergeant Mac's eyes. Some may be wondering, if the pilot is taking the picture, the copilot is in the picture, then who’s flying the aircraft? Well let’s just say that’s a very valid question!

Sleepy Time

12 minutes in the flight – Can’t say I didn’t tell him so.

My roommate “Mr. Sikes” as he would like me to call him. Acting like he doesn’t know I’m taking the picture. This will be the second tour that Eric and I have roomed together. We pretty much have our ground rules and we both follow them. Our first rule is to wear our headphones while listening to music or watching T.V. while the other is in the room that is. His mother was nice enough to send him a television with headphone capability, “Thank You – Debi”.
